I bought this bag to take on my first trip to Europe and, seven countries later, I have to say it served me well. It was modern enough to fit in (didn't scream "tourist"), was the right size to hold the necessities--a thin sweater, umbrella, passport, wallet, camera, bottled water, and a journal--and, most importantly, was comfortable to carry around. The material is also waterproof, which came in handy on the rainy days.

Now that I'm back home, I'm pleased to discover it is the perfect size to hold my 13" Macbook, but you will probably want a padded sleeve for it.

I was a bit nervous buying an orange messenger bag, but I have to admit I'm glad I did. I really didn't want a basic black bag. I wanted something a bit more modern without it looking fussy or feminine. This one is it.

Two small things that would make the bag even better: a quick-access pocket for my phone, and a place for pens/pencils.
