I'm very new to good hats, but I've bought a few now, and this is the best so far. No loose threads or strings, has tight seams, and no loose parts. Water repellency seems to be good, although I haven't worn it in a deluge yet. I can't vouch for the crushability (not yet anyway) 'cause my parents taught me not to crush decent hats. And this is more than decent.

The style is between a formal fedora and a "cowboy" hat. No feather in this one, which is good, that would be much too gaudy. The leather band is nicely proportioned, very understated.

The medium turned out to be a tad tight, no biggie, probably my fault since this was the first hat I ordered. I'm keeping this one for when it's windy, and I'm going to buy another one in large (padding the inner band if I need to). Too bad it doesn't come in black.
